Of note: The gorge takes its name from the way the wind claps between the cliffs — kourtalio means a violent slap. Preveli's palms (Phoenix theophrasti) have grown here for millennia; during WWII, Allied soldiers escaped from the beach by submarine. Kalypso offers total seclusion — the kind of cove that feels like a secret even when you're standing in it.
